“ PRUNE PIE
Line a pie plate with crust, sprinkle bottom with flour and fill with pitted cooked prunes. Lay stripes across the top.
PIE CRUST
Sift two cups of flour; cut in (with two knives) two tablespoonfuls butter and two of fat until fine as sand. Add enough ice-water to make the dough firm enough to roll (about three-fourths of a cup) . Roll out in one direction and on one side only, using but little flour. Roll till thin.
REAL RAISIN PIE
2 cups seeded raisins, 2 cups water, 1⁄4 teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1 tablespoon corn starch, 1 teaspoon sugar.

“ When cool, put teaspoon jelly on top.
COCOANUT MACAROONS
One large cocoanut grated or shredded; then dry in stove (do not allow to brown) ; whites of five eggs, and one pound of sugar, beaten together in a bowl on the stove until eggs and sugar get warm; take off the stove and beat until it gets cold; then add cocoanut and one teaspoonful of vanilla. Bake in a moderately hot oven on ungreased paper.
CUP CAKE
1⁄2 cup butter, 2 cups sugar, 1 cup lukewarm milk, 21⁄2-3 cups flour, 3 teaspoons baking powder, Juice and rind of 1 lemon, 4 eggs, 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla.
