Definition and stakes

Portrait of Percy Fitzpatrick Percy Fitzpatrick,  The Transvaal from Within: A Private Record of Public Affairs

It was therefore resolved that we should do everything in our power to assist in the election of the best men who were put up by the constituencies, and everything that the law permitted us to do in this direction was done. ”
