But it is necessary first to test and cleanse the jars and then to keep them hot, so that later, when they are filled and ready to be placed in the water bath, they will not crack by coming in contact with boiling water. The best way in which to keep the jars hot is to let them stand in hot water. ”

“ The cover must be provided with a washer so that no liquid will escape if the bottle should be broken.
4. When in a metal container, the weight of the parcel must not exceed eleven pounds. The container must be hermetically sealed, inclosed in a strong box and securely wrapped.

Before a substance is received, information on proper handling, storage, and disposal should be known to those who will be involved (215, 216) . He must have had good luck. The cardinal principle of packing is never to carry any glassware. And then you have jam, or chili powder, or syrup, or whiskey, all over the place—or else no matches. Any good screw top can—or better still, two telescoping tubes—is infinitely better. ”
