CHAPTER II.
The making of a nation is not unlike bread or cake making. The steps by which it is accomplished, the blending and fusing of the elements, require centuries, and the process makes what we call—history. ”

The good President proved his statement to my satisfaction by showing the relation of Greek and Roman civilizations to the spread of Christianity and the education of Europe. ”
